Monday 26th July.  Alex has finally made it home after 3 weeks, 15 countries and 6060 miles. See the Diary page for full details.
Ironically it is exactly a year since John and Gerry returned from their trip.

Day 1.  Friday 2nd July.  Distance 222 miles.

It took all night packing my stuff and getting the paperwork sorted. Left home about 6am and was at the boat in Belfast for 7am. We got loaded and away for 7.40. I spent the trip chatting to another biker going back to England after a tour around Ireland. We were docked in Stranraer and out on the road for 10am. The weather was wet and I stopped for fuel and a snack between Dumfries and Carlisle. It was here I met a group of Norwegian bikers on BMWs. I asked about the weather and the speed limits over there and they did likewise. They smiled when I told them our limits, but it was only later I found out why they had been smiling.  It was a long trip through Newcastle and I would have been completely lost without my GPS which took me right to the FjordLine terminal. Lots of other bikers at the terminal and the chat and banter was good. I met a group of strange looking 2stroke bikes from Trondheim, (see photos). We had a long wait at the quayside but we eventually go on board and were off.
